Hydrotreating
Details on high-impact refining and petrochemical projects presently under construction, as chosen by HP editors and readers
The global hydrocarbon processing industry (HPI) continues to expand and modernize to efficiently meet growing demand for energy, transportation fuels and petrochemicals.
Industry Perspectives: The latest in refining technology
Nearly 700 refineries are operating in more than 120 countries around the world.
Optimization: Filtration for processes inside refineries
Proper filtration is one of the most important functions performed inside refineries.
Optimize a refinery H2 network using spreadsheet tools
One of the major goals in every refining complex is to minimize the utilization of its hydrogen (H2) generation units by maximizing the H2 recovery from residual streams.
Indian refiner HMEL chooses Topsoe equipment for refinery upgrade
Indian refinery company HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd (HMEL) has chosen Topsoe’s diesel hydrotreater unit and hydrogen generation facilities to meet their upgrading requirements.
Improve energy efficiency with enhanced bundles in tubular heat exchangers
From 2008 to date, 45 twisted tube heat exchangers and bundles have been installed at BAYERNOIL refineries in different units and services, allowing higher heat recovery and contributing to BAYERNOIL’s energy targets.
Wantong Petrochemical first to use Honeywell hydrotreating catalyst
DES PLAINES, Ill. – Honeywell announced that Wantong Petrochemical Group is producing ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel using Honeywell UOP’s new HYT-6219 hydrotreating catalyst.
Driving innovation in the downstream: IRPC returns to New Delhi
Gulf Publishing Company and Hydrocarbon Processing are pleased to announce that IRPC 2017 will be held April 18–20 in New Delhi.
Performance testing: The key to successful revamps
Process unit revamps often do not result in a refiner achieving its desired objectives. This is typically not the result of mechanical defects with process equipment.
Enterprise to build isobutane dehydrogenation unit in Texas
HOUSTON -- Enterprise Products Partners L.P. announced plans to construct a new isobutane dehydrogenation (“iBDH”) unit in Mont Belvieu, Texas that will have the capability to produce 425,000 tpy of isobutylene. The project, which is supported by long-term contracts with investment-grade customers, is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2019. The isobutylene produced by the plant will provide the necessary feedstock to fill underutilized capacity at Enterprise’s existing downstream octane enhancement and petrochemical facilities.
