Miray Genç is a Senior Process Specialist, responsible for troubleshooting, process, operations, catalyst, additive changes, revamp and design projects for the FCC, DC, VSB, Prime G+ and Merox units at Tupras’ refineries. Previously, she worked as a Process Superintendent and as a chemical engineer at the Turkish Council of Research and Development/Middle East Technical University (METU) collaboration. She earned a BS degree in chemical engineering, along with an MS degree in polymer science and technology, from METU.

Utku Karani is an Operations Superintendent of FCC, naphtha hydrotreater, SR reformer, diesel/kerosine HT, LPG and gas treating units at Tupras’ Izmir refinery. He has been working in operations and process departments in different roles for 10 yr. Mr. Karani received a BS degree in chemical engineering from METU and an MS degree in engineering management from the Izmir Institute of Technology.
Emiroglu, I. - Tüpraş, Izmir, Turkey
Ibrahim Cagri Emiroglu is a Process Superintendent responsible for hydroprocessing units. He has been working at the Izmir refinery since 2006. His scope of work is tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and optimizing the process conditions of the units. He earned a BS degree in chemical engineering from METU and an MS degree in industrial engineering.
Er, I. - Tüpraş, Izmir, Turkey
Ilay Er is a Chief Operations Engineer of the FCCU in Tupras’ Izmir refinery. She has BS degree in chemical engineering and an MS degree in engineering management from METU. She is responsible for operations, maintenance and troubleshooting issues. She previously worked as a process engineer in the FCC and visbreaker units in the Izmir refinery.
Sönmez, M. - Tüpraş, İzmir, Turkey
Mert Sönmez has been working as an FCC Process Engineer at the İzmir refinery for 1 yr. He has a BS degree in chemical engineering from the İzmir Institute of Technology. His role is tracking the key parameters and running the FCCU to optimum conditions.
Gül, A. - Tüpraş, İzmit, Turkey
Aytac Gül is the Operations Superintendent responsible for the crude oil/vacuum, diesel HT, LPG merox processes and FCCUs. His responsibilities include managing staff, along with the planning, directing and coordinating of the organization’s day-to-day operations, including startup, shutdown and maintenance periods. Mr. Gül holds a BS degree in chemical engineering from METU.
Avcilar, S. - Tüpraş, İzmit, Turkey
Şeyma Avcılar is a Process Superintendent responsible for unit and catalyst monitoring, troubleshooting, optimization, catalyst and additive trials, and revamp and design projects for the FCC, delayed coker and Prime G units. She received a BS in chemical engineering and chemistry and an MS degree in polymer chemistry from Bogazici University.

With more than 20 yr of experience in the design, operation, revamping and troubleshooting of FCCUs, he provides technical support in the Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA) region and beyond. His previous experience includes positions at Esso Petroleum’s Fawley refinery and at KBR.
