BP to sell Canada natural gas liquids unit to Plains
BP has agreed to sell its Canadian natural gas liquids (NGL) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) business to the midstream subsidiary of Plains All American Pipeline for $1.67 billion in cash. Assets include NGL extraction plants; pipeline gathering systems; fractionation plants; and storage and specification product distribution facilities.
Linde, Statoil say joint Arctic LNG plant exceeding performance expectations
The world's northernmost natural gas liquefaction plant - Hammerfest LNG on the island Melkøya, 800 km north of the Arctic Circle near Hammerfest in Norway - passed its performance test in August, exceeding the expectations. The plant is a unique technology project of the European natural gas and EPC industry.
GTL base oil shipments from Shell Qatar venture begin reaching Americas
Shell Lubricants says its first shipment of gas-to-liquid (GTL) base oil has reached the Port of Houston. The high-quality product, the first from the Qatar-based Pearl GTL plant to reach the Americas, will be stored at a hub in Houston and routed to Shell Lubricants' GTL-enabled blending facilities throughout the US, the company said.

US NGL production to rise over 40% by 2016 - study
US natural gas liquids (NGL) production is expected to increase more than 40% over the next five years, according to a new joint market study from BENTEK Energy and Turner, Mason & Company (TM&C). Current levels of NGL infrastructure are inadequate to handle the surge in NGL production and significant new investment is needed to relieve bottlenecks, according to the authors.

BHP Billiton to spend $4.5bn on US shale this year
BHP Billiton Ltd. plans to invest roughly $4.5 billion developing the shale oil and gas assets it bought in the US this financial year as it ramps up production, the head of the mining company's petroleum division said Monday. BHP is targeting US shale production of 90 million barrels of oil equivalent in the year through June or about 250,000 BOE/day.
