Sasol to launch feasibility study on possible ethane cracker in Louisiana
The board of directors for Sasol has approved a feasibility study on a possible ethane cracker and ethylene derivatives complex in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the company said on Tuesday. Capacity would be between 1 million and 1.4 million tpy of ethylene.
Jacobs wins engineering pact for France gas work
Jacobs Engineering Group has received a framework contract from Electricite de France (EDF) to provide owner engineering services in support of gas infrastructure projects across Europe. The scope of the framework project consists of infrastructure development for natural gas storage and distribution, including gas pipelines, underground storage facilities and regasification terminals.
GTL base oil shipments from Shell Qatar venture begin reaching Americas
Shell Lubricants says its first shipment of gas-to-liquid (GTL) base oil has reached the Port of Houston. The high-quality product, the first from the Qatar-based Pearl GTL plant to reach the Americas, will be stored at a hub in Houston and routed to Shell Lubricants' GTL-enabled blending facilities throughout the US, the company said.
Austria minister opposed to shale gas drilling - report
Austrian Environment Minister Nikolaus Berlakovich said he is opposed to shale gas drilling for environmental reasons, the daily Der Standard reported. Berlakovich's sentiment could result in companies like Austria's OMV being denied permission to extract the country's shale gas deposits.

Foster Wheeler wins project management deal for Wyoming gas storage facility
Foster Wheeler has been awarded a contract by Ryckman Creek Resources, a subsidiary of Peregrine Midstream Partners, for project management support for the 35 billion-cubic-foot Ryckman Creek natural gas capacity storage facility. Foster Wheeler upstream's work on the contract is expected to continue through the third quarter of 2012.
Cheniere's second LNG contract fills export capacity target
Cheniere Energy Partners' Sabine Pass Liquefaction subsidiary has entered into a 3.5-metric-MMtpy LNG sale and purchase agreement with Gas Natural Fenosa. The agreement follows on the heels of an $8 billion, 3.5-metric MMtpy agreement between Cheniere and BG Group in October.
