Amyris, Total to align on renewable diesel, jet fuel
Total dedicated an $82 million funding budget over the next three years exclusively for the deployment of Biofene, Amyris's renewable farnesene, for production of renewable diesel and jet fuel. Under Tuesday’s announcement, Total agreed to fund $30 million during the third quarter of 2012.
Smithfield CEO calls for US to cut ethanol mandate

Celanese, Pertamina to collaborate on fuel ethanol projects in Indonesia
In line with a long-term strategy to develop new and renewable energy sources, Pertamina will collaborate exclusively with Celanese to jointly develop synthetic fuel ethanol projects in Indonesia utilizing Celanese’s proprietary TCX ethanol process technology. Production could begin in about 30 months.

Codexis eyes biofuel technology license from Shell
Under the agreement, Shell has agreed to negotiate exclusively with Codexis through September 1 on the terms of a new agreement under which Shell would grant certain rights and licenses in the biofuels field to develop and sell cellulase enzymes to third parties on a worldwide basis, except Brazil.

DuPont picks KBR for engineering contract on Iowa cellulosic ethanol project
KBR will provide front-end engineering, detailed engineering and procurement services to DuPont’s industrial biosciences group for the plant to be constructed in the Midwest US. The ethanol facility is designed to process 1,300 tpd of corn stover and produce 27.5 million gal/year of ethanol.
