Siemens opens gas turbine plant in North Carolina
Siemens Energy, along with state and local public officials, celebrated the official grand opening of the new 450,000-square-foot gas turbine production plant adjacent to its existing steam turbine-henerator manufacturing plant in Charlotte, North Carolina. When fully operational in spring 2012, the new gas turbine factory will complete Siemens' Charlotte energy hub.
Enbridge buys Conoco stake in US Seaway pipeline, will reverse crude oil flow
Enbridge has acquired ConocoPhillips’ 50% interest in the US Seaway Pipeline for $1.15 billion and has agreed with joint owner Enterprise Products to reverse the direction of crude oil flow, allowing it to carry discounted West Texas Intermediate (WTI) from Cushing, Oklahoma, to the US Gulf coast.
TransCanada CEO: Keystone XL still most competitive Gulf coast pipeline
TransCanada Corp. chief executive Russ Girling said Wednesday the Keystone XL pipeline is still the best alternative to bring Canadian crude to the US Gulf coast despite a delay and a re-route imposed by the US government last week. Girling also said Keystone's shippers remain supportive of the project, due to its progress through planning and regulation.
Enterprise Products cancels Wrangler pipeline plan
Enterprise Products said Wednesday it will cancel its Wrangler pipeline project in favor of reversing the Seaway pipeline to bring crude oil from Cushing, Okla. to the Gulf Coast. "For all intents and purposes, this project takes the place of Wrangler," the company said.
TransCanada: Keystone reroute agreement could speed approval process
TransCanada Corp. said it reached a tentative deal with Nebraska officials that would move the planned route of its Keystone XL pipeline project away from an environmentally sensitive region, possibly reviving a stalled approval process for the controversial oil conduit.
UOP technology used to process natural gas on FPSO vessels in Brazil
Honeywell’s UOP said Tuesday that MODEC has commissioned a UOP Separex membrane system for processing natural gas on a new floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel in Brazil. The FPSO was commissioned in July 2011.
Atlas Pipeline to expand natural gas processing capacity in west Texas
Atlas Pipeline announced plans to construct a new 200 million cubic feet/day (MMCFD) cryogenic processing plant to accommodate rapidly increasing Permian production in Texas. Pioneer Natural Resources, which partners with Atlas on the WestTX system and owns a 27.2% interest in the facility - will participate in the projects costs and cash flows and will anchor the production growth behind the expansion.
Russia joining World Trade Organization will create export opportunities – Dow CEO
Dow Chemical said on Monday that it applauded the work of the Russian and US governments as well as all members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in finalizing the technical details of Russia’s joining of the WTO. “This is a tremendous step forward in creating more export opportunities, access to the latest goods, technologies and services, and most importantly, partnerships with foreign investors in the further growth of Russia’s thriving business community,” said Andrew Liveris, Dow CEO.
BHP Billiton to spend $4.5bn on US shale this year
BHP Billiton Ltd. plans to invest roughly $4.5 billion developing the shale oil and gas assets it bought in the US this financial year as it ramps up production, the head of the mining company's petroleum division said Monday. BHP is targeting US shale production of 90 million barrels of oil equivalent in the year through June or about 250,000 BOE/day.
Tyco opens valve maintenance, repair facility on Texas Gulf coast
Tyco Valves & Controls, a unit of Tyco Flow Control, has opened a new service facility for valve maintenance and repair in Port Arthur, Texas, offering easier access for oil and gas companies in the Gulf of Mexico region. In addition to Tyco products, the center will also repair other manufacturers’ products, using original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts.
