Improving ammonia production sustainability
While approximately 70% of ammonia production is used to make fertilizers, it is also identified as the largest carbon dioxide (CO2)-emitting chemical industry process. This article examines several novel technologies to improve the sustainability of the ammonia production process.
Measuring hydrogen, tomorrow’s innovative fuel
Because it can be stored, transported and burned without GHG emissions, hydrogen (H2) is emerging as a potential frontrunner as a clean fuel source. However, transporting H2 must be efficient and cost-effective, a task that requires careful consideration and innovative solutions. This article will examine requirements for effective H2 transportation and accurate measurement in its challenging environments.
Shape the future of sustainable processing with advanced analytics
From the foundations of measuring emissions in real time, to forecasting the impact of each lever and automating reporting, digital technologies help processors track key sustainability metrics and overall progress in the journey to net-zero.
ADNOC, AIQ developing first-of-a-kind agentic AI solution for global energy transformation
ENERGYai will combine large language model technology with cutting-edge ‘agentic’ AI – AI ‘agents’ that are trained in specific tasks across ADNOC’s value chain. These specialized AI agents bring a new level of autonomy and precision to critical tasks, from seismic analysis to energy efficiency and real-time process monitoring.

Utilize a process simulation digital twin to optimize condensate yield
With the aim to maximize profit, and contribute to sustainability targets by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, ADNOC Sour Gas has optimized condensate hydrotreater operation by adjusting Reid vapor pressure, which resulted in maximizing condensate yield. This article is a case study on using a process digital twin to optimize condensate yield.
Thermal decomposition of particulate mercury sulfides in petroleum—Part 2
Traces of particulate mercury sulfide (HgS) in stabilized crude oils transform to elemental mercury below 400°C in refinery distillation units. The authors evaluated this transformation and measured reaction rates and activation energies in crude oil and Hg-spiked mineral oil, using glass vessels at atmospheric pressure and a microunit at 1,000 psig.
ProSep to deliver its Multiphase Adjustable Xtreme test units to Polish refiner
For the contract, ProSep will deliver one of its Multiphase Adjustable Xtreme (MAX+) Mixer's test units to a refinery in central Poland.
BGEN signs five-year contract with INEOS O&P UK
BGEN has announced that it has signed a five-year contract with the petrochemical manufacturer INEOS O&P UK. BGEN will provide a range of services to help INEOS optimize plant efficiency at its site in Grangemouth, Stirlingshire.
