51st Annual ECC PerspECCtives Conference: Win Together to Share Success Now

The 51st Annual ECC Conference convened at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs Wednesday, with 862 attendees, 188 spouses and 97 sponsoring companies. The annual conference brings together leaders in the industry to discuss the most critical issues facing capital projects.

The 150 participants of the Future Leader program arrived a day early for topical working and strategy sessions. After the initial welcome by Justin Borchardt, ECC Chair and VP of S&B, attendees heard from geopolitical strategist, Peter Zeihan who presented a different perspective on U.S. foreign policy and the benefit of energy disruption and trade breakdowns.

Attendees also learned and participated in leadership techniques from Hal Gregersen, Executive Director of MIT Leadership who illustrated the importance of asking better questions rather than searching for better answers. Breakout sessions included “Restructuring Chevron’s Project Management System”, “The Next Step in Construction Productivity” “Implementing Safety” and “Minimum Scope to Meet Objectives”.

At a luncheon, the recipient of the 2019 Spirit of the ECC Award was announced as the University of Houston's Process Industrial Construction Management Program.

The afternoon sessions included such forward-thinking topics as “Virtual Construction” and “The Future of the Industry: A Case for Change”.
