EIA: U.S. crude, gasoline stockpiles fall; distillates build last week
U.S. crude oil and gasoline stocks fell, while distillate inventories rose last week, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday.
Crude inventories fell by 2.7 MMbbl to 440.4 MMbbl in the week ended April 25, the EIA said, compared with analysts' expectations for a 429,000-bbl rise.
Crude stocks at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery hub rose by 682,000 bbl in the week ended April 25, the EIA said.
Refinery crude runs rose by 189,000 bpd in the week, while refinery utilization rates rose by 0.5% to 88.6% of total capacity.
Gasoline stocks fell by 4 MMbbl in the week to 225.5 MMbbl, compared with expectations for a 1-MMbbl draw.
Distillate stockpiles, which include diesel and heating oil, rose by 900,000 bbl in the week to 107.8 MMbbl, versus expectations for a 1.6-MMbbl drop, data showed.
Net U.S. crude imports fell last week by 663,000 bpd, the EIA said.
