Repsol supports ECI Group in licensing first 150,000-tpy copolymer plant using ECI Group’s hybrid reactor technology

Repsol will collaborate with ECI Group in the licensing agreement with Shaanxi Yanchang China Coal Yulin Energy & Chemical Co. Ltd. (YECC), part of the Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Group, China’s fourth-largest oil producer, to deliver a copolymer plant project using ECI Group’s proprietary hybrid reactor technology.

The plant in Yangqiaopan, Jingbian County, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, will produce 150,000 metric tpy of LDPE, EVA, EBA and other high-value copolymer products. The technology is inherently ready for future expansion of both capacity and product capability.

ECI Group’s hybrid reactor technology, developed from the well-proven ICI autoclave technology, offers a wide range of high-pressure polyethylene products, providing unrivaled operational efficiency, reliability and flexibility. The technology has been optimized to use modern materials, design techniques, standards, and industry best practices for construction, operation, and maintenance. Since 2021, ECI Group has licensed plant capacities of 50,000 tpy, 100,000 tpy, 150,000 tpy and 200,000 tpy with ECI Group’s standardized design approach.

With over 40 years of experience producing LDPE, EVA and EBA polymer products in its industrial complexes in Spain and Portugal, Repsol will support ECI Group by providing its extensive technical, operational and commercial expertise. This collaboration ensures the successful implementation and operation of the plant, leveraging Repsol's deep industry knowledge and experience.

With this new agreement, Repsol underscores its position as a market reference in technology and product development for EVA/EBA, reinforced by its collaboration with ECI Group, a globally recognized engineering company and high-pressure technology leader.
