Maersk and Hyundai Heavy Industries launch first of 12 methanol powered container ships

The first in a new series of 12 methanol-enabled container ships achieved its launching and undocking milestone over the weekend. It unveiled the initial vessel in the large ocean-going class, equipped with a dual-fuel engine capable of running on green methanol.

The ship boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 350 meters in length and 53.5 meters in beam width, with a capacity to transport 16,200 TEU for their customers. The project involves partnerships with industry leaders Hyundai Heavy Industries and MAN Energy Solutions for the delivery of the first large container ship in early 2024.
