Indonesia's Jan-Sept biodiesel consumption at about 2 T gallons

(Reuters) - Indonesia's consumption of palm oil-based biodiesel for the first nine months of this year was about 2 trillion gallons, an official said on Monday.

The world's biggest palm oil producer has pushed a wide use of the palm oil based fuel to reduce crude oil imports and shift to lower emission fuel.

In February, Indonesia raised its mandatory palm oil blend in biodiesel from 30% to 35%, a program better known as B35.

B35 was only implemented in August, however, as some regions needed to upgrade infrastructure to meet the new requirement for the higher blend.
