Gazprom develops logistics scheme to ensure delivery of equipment for Omsk refinery
Transportation of major new equipment to the Gazprom Neft Omsk Refinery has required the development of a comprehensive logistics scheme. Equipment intended for the construction of new facilities (part of the full-scale modernization of the Omsk Refinery, and weighing about 6,000 tons in total) is being transported to Omsk in stages, by sea and river vessels.
The equipment, produced at the JSC Volgogradneftemash plant, was transported along the Volga, through the Rybinsk Reservoir, and through Lake Onezhskoye and Lake Ladoga. Components from the JSC Volgogradneftemash and Izhorskiye Zavodi plants are currently being transported through the Neva to the coast of the Gulf of Finland. The second leg of the route will run through the Baltic, North and Norwegian Seas, as well as part of the Northern Sea Route, to the Gulf of Ob. The final stage will involve oversized cargo being transported from Novy Port to Omsk via the Ob and Irtysh rivers. The total distance covered in transporting the equipment will be more than 9,000 km. Delivery of the equipment to the Omsk Refinery is expected in October 2016.
