Neste Jacobs wins project management work for Gasum’s Finngulf LNG

Technology, engineering and project management group Neste Jacobs has won the bidding competition of Gasum's Finngulf LNG and Balticconnector project to deliver the project management office (PMO).

The PMO office will in 2014, together with the other front-end engineering design (FEED) companies for the individual sub projects, prepare the material in order to enable Gasum to make the final investment decision for the combined Finngulf LNG investment, including Balticconnector, at the end-of-year 2014.

After that, Neste Jacobs will be responsible for the project management services of the whole project.

"We chose Neste Jacobs to deliver the project through a public bidding competition. During the bidding competition we became convinced of Neste Jacobs' cost effectiveness, professionalism and commitment to the project", said Timo Kallio, project director of Gasum Finngulf LNG and Balticconnector.

In addition to the large-scale Finngulf LNG project serving Finland and the Baltic States, Gasum is also clarifying the possibilities to build smaller terminals serving the energy needs of shipping industry and companies.

Neste Jacobs is currently delivering the feasibility study and FEED for Gasum West Finland LNG terminal. Neste Jacobs is carrying out the project from its offices in Turku and Porvoo. Gasum chose Neste Jacobs to deliver the project already earlier during autumn 2013.

"We are very happy to serve Gasum with the help of our expert project management and engineering staff in these projects", said Jarmo Suominen, managing director of Neste Jacobs. "The extensive co-operation with Gasum further supports Neste Jacobs' strategy to become the leading LNG engineering company in Nordic countries."

The value of the assignments above is about 20 million euros. The delivery of the services will take place during several years, according to the timetable of each project.

"We have through many years of cooperation become convinced of Neste Jacobs' expertise and commitment to successful project execution", said Tommy Mattila, head of LNG for Gasum Oy. "We are currently planning several initiatives enabling the usage of LNG as alternative fuel source for business not connected to the current national gas grid. It is very possible, that we continue the co-operation with Neste Jacobs also in these areas."
