Burckhardt delivering compressor to Saudi LDPE-EVA plant

Burckhardt Compression has an order from International Polymers Co. (IPC) in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, to deliver a hyper-compressor for IPC’s low-density polyethylene/ethylene vinyl acetate (LDPE-EVA) plant. The production process is licensed by ExxonMobil Chemical Technology Licensing.

Burckhardt Compression secured the order thanks to a large number of references in LDPE plants with similar or larger capacities. These hyper-compressors have been in operation for decades and have proven their reliability and safety. The rated motor power is 18’500 kW (24’800 hp).

Hyper-compressors are high pressure reciprocating compressors for LDPE plants with discharge pressures up to 3,500 bar (50,000 psi). Burckhardt Compression has  over 55 years  of experience in manufacturing hyper-compressors.

The 200,000 metric tpy plant will be built at Sipchem’s site in Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia, as part of Sipchem’s third phase project. The project is targeted to be commissioned in 2013.
