Improving plant operations with control valve simulations
In today’s business climate, where project budgets and schedules are under cost and time pressures (and where installed valve applications must perform reliably under increasingly severe conditions), valve simulations are enabling new capabilities.
The Authors
Luke Novak is the CFD Lead at Emerson in Marshalltown, Iowa. Since joining Emerson in 2017, his focus has been on CFD analysis of process control valves. His responsibilities include applying CFD to solve business-critical problems and developing best practices for deploying CFD within the wider engineering community. Mr. Novak has 12 yr of industrial experience in using CFD. He holds a BS degree in aerospace engineering from Iowa State University.
Reid Youngdahl is a Valve Technical Specialist at Emerson’s flow controls products in Marshalltown, Iowa. He began working for Emerson in 2013 as an applications engineer, providing global control valve technical support for various industrial markets, such as oil and gas, power generation and OEMs. Mr. Youngdahl provides technical consultations for severe-service control valve applications to optimize customer solutions. He holds a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University.
