He holds a PhD in chemical engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology and is a registered professional engineer in Alberta, Canada.

Qing Wu is a Professor and Chief Engineer at the Science and Technology Development Department of CNOOC, as well as Team Leader of the Integrated Oilsands and Bitumen Project. His research areas include heavy oil conversion, petroleum molecular engineering, CO2-rich natural gas direct conversion, and hybrid energy and chemical systems. He has published more than 150 technical papers, 39 patents and several academic books.
