Advanced biological treatment removes benzene, phenol from refinery wastewater
Historically, US regulators have not required benzene and phenol monitoring for wastewater from oil refining, petrochemical processing, coking or coal gasification operations.

Caroline Dale has been working for Veolia as a biological process expert for 23 yr. Her area of expertise is MBBR for industrial applications, and she holds an MS degree in environmental engineering. Ms. Dale is based at Veolia’s headquarters in Paris, France.
Robert Wenta is the Vice President of sales, marketing and process with Veolia’s Industrial Projects group. He has more than 25 yr of experience in various industrial markets, with a focus on downstream oil and gas and petrochemicals. Mr. Wenta has held roles in project commissioning, lab treatability and analytical chemistry, applications engineering, product management and business development.
