Mustafa Karakaya, PhD, is a Senior Modeling Engineer at TAKREER Research Centre (TRC) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He received his BS and MS degrees and PhD in chemical engineering from Bogazici University in Istanbul. His professional and research interests include building first-principles, custom models for refinery process development and chemical reaction engineering applications in refining and petrochemical complexes. Dr. Karakaya also has experience in pinch analysis and process integration for energy-saving retrofit projects. Prior to joining TAKREER, he worked as an R&D scientist at the TÜPRAŞ R&D Center in Izmit, Turkey.
Rakib, M. - Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Co. (TAKREER), Abu Dhabi, UAE
Mohammad Abdur Rakib is the Section Head for process modeling and simulation at the TAKREER Research Centre in Abu Dhabi. He also leads the operational excellence focus area for process modeling and LP modeling to establish and monitor best modeling practices in TAKREER. Dr. Rakib earned his PhD in chemical engineering from the University of British Columbia, Canada, specializing in the areas of fluidization and chemical reaction engineering, and an MS degree in chemical engineering in the area of computational fluid dynamics, from KFUPM, Saudi Arabia. His wide experience ranges from teaching in university to industrial R&D in both refining and petrochemicals. Previously, he worked at the SABIC T&I Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Musharfy, M. - Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Co. (TAKREER), Abu Dhabi, UAE
Mohamed Al Musharfy has more than 13 years of multidisciplinary experience in planning, coordination, business studies and development in the field of refining. He works as the Manager of engineering R&D at the TAKREER Research Centre, and he earned a BS degree in chemical engineering from the United Arab Emirates University.
Suleiman, M. - Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Co. (TAKREER), Abu Dhabi, UAE
Mabruk Issa Suleiman is the Senior Manager of engineering R&D and support services at the TAKREER Research Centre. He is leading a three-year research project on refinery feedstock corrosivity indexing and model development. Dr. Suleiman has more than 30 years of experience in the field of refinery corrosion, asset reliability and management, and has contributed significantly to the sector’s literature. He is also a professional member of the Institute of Corrosion (UK) and cofounder of the Libyan Corrosion Society. He obtained his PhD in corrosion engineering from the University of Manchester, UK.
