Industrial centrifugal compressors installed in hydrocarbon processing industry (HPI) complexes absorb significant amounts of mechanical power when compressing gases. A small part of the mechanical energy transforms into acoustical energy during the compression process. As an undesirable byproduct, the acoustical energy manifests itself into pressure pulsations, vibration and noise, which travel downstream and upstream through the entire compressor system.
