Vertical reboilers (shell-and-tube heat exchangers) are widely used in the petrochemical industry for performing the necessary vaporization function for various types of distillation columns/separation towers. The thermosyphon reboiler is the most commonly used, in which flow takes place due to the density difference of the two fluid legs. The heating fluid in the reboiler shell provides heat to the liquid inside the reboiler tubes, thereby vaporizing part of it. The vapor and liquid mixture returns to the column via a vapor-return connection.
In a vertical reboiler, due to the fixed tube sheet, there will be a bellows-type expansion joint provided on the shell to accommodate differential
