Systematic depressurization design is more than just a safety necessity

Implementing this approach can save money while meeting required regulations

Being able to depressurize a facility is a necessity that not only addresses safety issues but is also required for code compliance. Generally, most complexes create in-house procedures developing contingencies for various conditions requiring unit depressurization. However, highly conservative procedures lead to numerous contingencies and excessive installation costs. Depressurization is often divided into three categories that are simplified in Fig. 1.
