Condensed steam, i.e., condensate, is valued for its heat content
and purity. To minimize operating costs, condensate should be
recycled back to the boiler feedwater system. Equally important, it
should be recovered from processes that use steam for indirect
heating and cooling. Condensed steam is pressurized or pumped into
receivers and storage tanks and then returned to the deaerator
scrubbing or storage section.
There are two objectives for condensate management:
Maximizing the quantity of condensate recovered and
recycled
Maintaining the quality or cleanliness of the condensed
steam.
