CERAWeek '17: Canadian PM reiterates close US relationship
Speaking fluently in both English and French, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrapped up his visit to CERAWeek by IHS Markit in Houston with a press conference in which he reiterated the close relationship between the US and Canada.
He confirmed that Canada would continue to engage closely with the new US administration as there is broad agreement on their fundamental priority to “create economic growth in a way that benefits the middle class and those working hard to join it.”
Questioned about the border tax adjustment and its impact on the energy industry, PM Trudeau mentioned that leaders repeatedly stated a need for clarification of the US administration’s plans for deregulating and pricing. He also affirmed his view that the world is moving towards a lower carbon economy, and that innovation in conventional and renewable energy is essential for attracting investment.
