Mustafa Karakaya, PhD, is a Senior Modeling Engineer at TAKREER Research Centre (TRC) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He received his BS and MS degrees and PhD in chemical engineering from Bogazici University in Istanbul. His professional and research interests include building first-principles, custom models for refinery process development and chemical reaction engineering applications in refining and petrochemical complexes. Dr. Karakaya also has experience in pinch analysis and process integration for energy-saving retrofit projects. Prior to joining TAKREER, he worked as an R&D scientist at the TÜPRAŞ R&D Center in Izmit, Turkey.
