Asia's naphtha refining profit margin surged to a four-year high of $134.30 a metric ton over Brent crude on Monday on fears of supply disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, traders and an analyst said.
Asian buyers have "limited and few" alternative supply options if there is prolonged disruption and feedstock costs have already "shot up", an official at a large petrochemical trader said.
Nearly 4 million tons of Asia-bound naphtha transits the Strait of Hormuz each month, with a third of that volume landing in South Korea, estimates from traders showed.
