Update: Turkey's Izmir refinery now expects to restart crude unit in Feb, IIR says

Turkish refiner Tupras now expects to restart a 151,000-bpd crude unit at its Izmir oil refinery in early February after a fire on Nov. 25, industry monitor IIR said.

Turkey's biggest oil refiner shut the unit on Nov. 25, it said in a regulatory filing the next day.

The refinery, with a crude processing capacity of 241,500 bpd, mainly produces fuel oil, diesel, jet fuel and gasoline. It imported around 184,000 bpd of crude in 2024 vs. 182,000 bpd in 2023, data from analytics provider Kpler showed.

One-third of that crude came from Russia, the data showed.

Tupras also owns a 225,800-bpd refinery in Izmit as well as two smaller plants.
