Russian oil refining volumes up in August
Russian oil companies have boosted oil refining volumes this month as Gazprom plants ramped up output, daily newspaper Kommersant reported on Monday citing unnamed sources.
The increase suggests that Russian oil refineries have managed, at least partially, to recoup losses related to Ukrainian drone attacks and technical outages.
Russia last week extended a ban on gasoline exports until the end of the year to maintain stability in the market during a period of increased seasonal demand and scheduled refinery repairs.
However, oil refining volumes are likely to decline in September as maintenance season gets into full swing.
The newspaper said that this month's oil refining volumes have averaged about 760,000 metric tpd, equating to 5.6 MMbpd, up 2% from the previous month's average of 758,400 tpd.
If the pace is maintained until the end of the month, it could reach the highest monthly average this year, the paper said.
Gazprom's Surgut and Astrakhan plants contributed greatly to the overall production increase after completing maintenance work, Kommersant added.
