STRABAG Umwelttechnik and Atlas Copco Energas agree on industrial and high-performance heat pumps

Cologne-based Atlas Copco Energas GmbH and STRABAG Umwelttechnik GmbH (operating in the Dresden-based business area construction services) have agreed on an extensive cooperation in the area of industrial and high-performance heat pumps.

The two companies will work together to bundle their respective resources and expertise, with the goal of further improving customer focus in the vastly growing market for large-scale heat pumps.

Furthermore, Atlas Copco Energas and STRABAG Umwelttechnik want to position themselves to meet future market and customer requirements. The partners will provide tailored, highly-efficient heat pump systems

The cooperation agreement covers heat pumps (upward of 5 MW in thermal power) used for industrial heat and steam supply, and for heat generation supplying district heating. Specifically, the co-developed STRABAG and Atlas Copco Energas systems are to be used for generating waste and ambient heat in a highly efficient and climate-friendly manner to produce process heat and steam.

Atlas Copco Energas, which is part of company’s Gas and Process Division, brings proven expertise and experience in turbocompressor technology to the table, while STRABAG provides vast know-how designing and building plants for energy and environmental projects.

With their involvement, the two companies are seeking to support a lower-carbon future, while reducing fossil fuel dependence. „We have successfully realized projects together before.

This is a proven partnership, and we are convinced that it will be an ideal platform for providing customized large-scale industrial heat pump solutions to the market,“ said Daniel Springmann, General Manager of Atlas Copco Energas GmbH.

"The partnership with Atlas Copco Energas enables us to develop highly efficient heat pump systems tailored and optimized to specific customer needs,“ said Thomas Büchner, General Manager of STRABAG Umwelttechnik GmbH.
