TotalEnergies Marine Fuels has successfully completed the refueling of a CMA CGM containership in Singapore with sustainable marine biofuel. This operation marks another milestone in TotalEnergies Marine Fuels’ ambition to become a key biofuel bunker supplier across strategic bunker hubs by 2030.
On 29th July 2022, the 4,294 TEU CMA CGM MONTOIR container vessel was bunkered via ship-to-ship transfer with TotalEnergies-supplied biofuel. The biofuel is made of VLSFO (Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil) blended with 24% second-generation, waste-based and ISCC-certified UCOME (Used Cooking Oil Methyl Ester).

The MoU focuses on the two companies bringing Chart’s carbon capture solutions to their customers in these regions, with special focus on the state-owned companies and energy companies. With the combination of C.A.T. and Chart, customers can be provided with an optimized turn-key solution.
Uzbekistan GTL plant produces synthetic jet fuel by synthesizing natural gas
At the initiative and support of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a new period has begun in Uzbekneftegaz JSC and in system enterprises - the process of implementing priority tasks and long-term plans. On the basis of the "gas-liquid" technology, the production of one of the leading plants in the world - "Uzbekistan GTL" is expanding.
In order to produce new types of products, constantly monitor their quality at the Uzbekistan GTL plant, a “Working Group” was created, headed by the Chairman of the Board of JSC “Uzbekneftegaz” Mekhriddin Abdullayev, which constantly studies the state of production of synthetic fuel products, processes of storage, sale and delivery of products.
Topsoe increases climate commitment through industry-leading net-zero targets
Topsoe, a global leader in carbon emission reduction technologies, today announces its commitment to reach net zero emissions by 2040, setting near-and long-term company-wide emission reduction targets. The target commitments have been sent to SBTi for validation.
Through investment in renewable energy technology and changes to production processes, Topsoe aims to reduce operational emissions by 30% in 2024 and at least 95% in 2030, with a transition to 80% renewable power within all the Company’s operations by 2025.
bp says two killed in Ohio refinery fire
bp said on Wednesday two of its staff were killed after sustaining injuries in a fire at its 150,800 barrel-per-day Toledo, Ohio, refinery.
"The fire was extinguished last night and refinery was safely shut down and remains offline," a company spokesperson said.
"All other staff is accounted for and our employee assistance team is on site."

(Grace) the leading independent supplier of polyolefin catalyst technology and polypropylene (PP) technology, has received a commitment from PT Kilang Pertamina International (PT KPI) to use Grace’s UNIPOL PP technology, which is part of its larger initiative, the Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) Olefin Complex Development Project in Indonesia.
This project will empower PT KPI to increase refinery and polyolefin capacity by addressing the gap between strong demand growth of petrochemicals and the shortage in domestic production capacity.
Air Liquide, Chevron, Keppel Infrastructure, and PetroChina announced they have signed an MoU to form a consortium which will aim to evaluate and advance the development of large-scale carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration (CCUS) solutions and integrated infrastructure in Singapore.
The consortium intends to research, test, and develop technological, logistical, and operational solutions for CCUS in Singapore. In doing so, the consortium will look to provide industry-wide CCUS integrated infrastructure, primarily to support the energy and chemicals sector, by capturing and aggregating carbon dioxide (CO2) from large industrial emitters at a centralized collection facility.
Repsol to begin two-month turnaround at Tarragona oil refinery in Spain
Spanish energy giant Repsol is investing 100 MM euros to reduce emissions at its 186,000 bpd Tarragona refinery in Spain, which begins two months of maintenance at the end of the week.
The distillation and hydrotreating fuel units will stop simultaneously on Sept. 23, while the remaining areas of the Tarragona complex, such as the chemical plants, will continue to operate normally, Repsol said.
Lukoil names new head for Italian refinery amid sale talks
Lukoil has named a new top manager at its refinery in Sicily amid efforts by the Italian government to find a buyer for the plant and shield it from sanctions on Russian oil.
The Russian group has picked Eugene Maniakhine as director general at its ISAB plant in the Sicilian town of Priolo, Lukoil's Italian unit said in a statement on Thursday.
