Mammoet awarded contract for polymer expansion on Texas gulf coast

ROSHARON, Texas- Mammoet has been awarded a contract by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) to support a large polymer production plant expansion project on the Gulf Coast in Texas.

Mammoet’s scope includes transporting several oversized and heavy pieces, including one piece weighing over 1 million lbs., reaching 160 ft in length and 30 ft in diameter. A portion of the transport services will include a 40 mile over-the-road transport to the construction site. Mammoet will engineer a tailor-made approach to overcome several route obstacles, such as overhead obstructions and bridges, in a timely fashion.

This project is one of several polymer production plant expansions projects announced in the US. It is estimated that North America will add around 11 billion pounds of annual capacity by the end of 2017 with most of that production taking place in the Gulf Coast.
