TOYO Engineering has announced the purchase of two leading Intergraph solutions, which are being used to deliver a large-scale steam cracker complex in Malaysia.
The project is part of the Refinery and Petrochemicals Integrated Development (RAPID) mega project. When completed, RAPID will consist of a 300,000-bpd refinery and petrochemical complex with a combined capacity of producing 7.7 million tpy of various grades of products, including differentiated and specialty chemicals products such as synthetic rubbers and high-grade polymers.
Given the size and complexity of the project, TOYO says it the decision to purchase and implement two market-leading project execution tools.
The first was Intergraph Smart 3D, a next-generation 3D design solution specifically tailored for the plant industry. It employs a breakthrough engineering approach that leverages real-time concurrent design, rules, relationships and automation. It is the most advanced and productive 3D design solution that effectively enables optimized design, increasing safety, quality and productivity, while shortening project schedules.
TOYO also selected SmartPlant Materials, the only solution available on the market that fully supports the unique materials management processes needed in the chemical industry, according to the company. It offers a total materials management and subcontract management solution for chemical plants and projects.
We made the decision to increase the number of licenses for Smart 3D and SmartPlant Materials, as both have innovative features that support global work sharing arrangements, said Toshio Hayashi, director of TOYOs IT and management control division. These tools will help TOYO to achieve its vision of becoming a globally networked organization in which our group companies around the world collaborate with each other and carry out work for any client worldwide in the most efficient manner, based on common work standards.
Intergraph and TOYO have worked together over many years to help TOYOs clients realize project excellence," said Gerhard Sallinger, president of Intergraph Process, Power & Marine. "We look forward to continuing this partnership in the era of global mega projects.
