Greek refiner Motor Oil Hellas no longer buying Iranian crude

By SARAH KENT

Greek refiner Motor Oil Hellas is no longer buying Iranian crude, and has not done so for some time, a person at the company told Dow Jones Newswires Monday.

"We currently don't take imports from Iran," the person said, adding that the Iranian oil had been replaced with imports from Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Russia.

European consumers are scrambling to replace Iranian exports ahead of a European Union embargo on the Islamic Republic's crude, amid mounting risks that Iran will take unilateral action to cut the region off from its oil supply earlier than the July 1 deadline for the oil ban.

Iran said over the weekend it was halting exports to the UK and France, a largely symbolic move as neither take large amounts of Iranian oil, and French oil major, Total has already halted purchases from the country.

Motor Oil Hellas is one of two major refiners in Greece and is able to process more than 180,000 bpd of oil.
