The feed to fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) is the most important process variable. FCCU feed has the greatest impact on operating conditions, yield and product quality. A typical FCCU feed consists of hydrocarbon (HC) families, including paraffins and cycloparaffins, which are saturates (aromatic HCs with a different number of aromatic rings), resins and asphaltenes. In some cases, residue is processed in the FCCU. Feed behavior in the riser also depends on the mechanical and operational conditions of the unit, and the concentration and distribution of these HC families. Feed quality Thus, feed quality depends on several factors: quality and type of crude processed by the crude disti
