  US energy demand outlook The US is the world's largest energy producer, consumer and net importer. It also ranks eleventh worldwide in reserves of oil, sixth in natural gas and first in coal. A new analysis from the Energy Information Agency (www.eia.doe.gov) forecasts that total US petroleum demand in 2005 will grow just 1.4%.
