Valero Energy Corp. has approved funding for its McKee refinery. CB&I Matrix, a CB&I subsidiary, is performing engineering, procurement and construction for the project which is valued at approximately $40 million to $60 million. Under agreement terms, CB&I Matrix will design, build and install a 35,000-bpd gasoline desulfurization unit at Valero's 170,000-bpd McKee refinery in Sunray, Texas. The unit will reduce sulfur content naphtha feedstock using technology licensed from Catalytic Distillation Technologies, a partnership between ABB Lummus Global and Chemical Research & Licensing Co., Pasadena, Texas.
