CB&I Matrix, a CB&I subsidiary, has a lump-sum turnkey EPC contract with Valero Energy Corp. CB&I will engineer and construct a new 60,000 bpd gasoline desulfurization unit at Valero's 185,000 bpd refinery in St. Charles, Louisiana. The contract is valued at $60 million.
Work scope includes designing, fabricating and installing the complete process unit, which will reduce the naphtha feedstock sulfur content. It will use catalytic distillation technology licensed from CDTECH. The low-sulfur gasoline produced will enable Valero to better comply with EPA Tier 2 gasoline specifications. Mechanical completion is scheduled for summer 2005.
