The European Pollutant Emission Register (EPER) was launched in February by the European Commission. EPER is the first Europe-wide register of emissions into air and water from large and medium-sized industrial facilities in Europe. The first EPER report includes data for the year 2001 from about 10,000 industrial facilities in the European Union and Norway. The EPER Decision obliges the European Commission to make data publicly accessible on the Internet. So the Website, www.eper.cec.eu.int, was created to fulfill this obligation.
