A 342-MW integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power plant using ChevronTexaco-licensed gasification technology is now operational. The unit is located at Nippon Petroleum Refining Co.'s (NPRC) 340,000 bpd Negishi refinery in Yokohama, Japan. The feedstock for the IGCC facility is refinery asphalt. Texaco Development Corp., a ChevronTexaco wholly owned subsidiary, licensed the gasification technology to NPRC in 1998 and facility construction began in 2000.
