Detection method measures total sulfur species in
gasoline
Agilent Technologies has released a new method for
characterizing sulfur in reformulated gasoline using gas
chromatography-inductivity coupled plasma mass spectrometry
(GC-ICP-MS). This method is claimed to be the first available
technique that measures both individual sulfur species and
total sulfur at very low levels.
The approach can quantify individual sulfur species
in the lower ppb-range and total sulfur at less than 1 ppm.
Thus, it enables laboratory analysis with high sensitivity
for pending new fuel specifications.
