hydrocarbon processing industry (HPI). However, in the weeks
to come as the events that precipitated the blackout are
reconstructed, brought under close scrutiny and made public,
we will likely find that some power grid operators are
wrestling with issues that are already quite familiar to
operations engineers in the HPI. Furthermore, it is likely
