World styrene demand grew 5.1% in 2002, a contrast to the 1.8% decline in 2001. "After negative spot cash margins throughout 2001 for U.S. producers, the margins in 2002 were a huge blessing. It was, however, only a good year for the styrene producers who did not suffer through operating problems and/or share their fortune with derivative producers," according to a new market analysis by CMAI.
