HUG '18 Responding to the rise in industrial cyber attacks
Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) presented a sobering and realistic picture of cybersecurity threat vectors, and what can be done about it. Unfortunately, these days on the dark web, anyone can get free malware including help desk support, and for money they can pay someone to launch a attack.
There is now a huge shortage of cybersecurity skills to counter this threat, which is predicted to cost the world $6 billion annually by 2021, up from $3 billion in 2015. HPS customer surveys show a demand for non-point solutions that are supported by expertise.
In their industrial cyber security solutions portfolio, HPS offer sites on-premises threat assessment, also threat penetration vulnerability, then follow up with specific prioritized recommendations on how to harden defenses for threats against Operational Technology. They offer a multi-site, defense-in-depth approach, including multi-vendor security management.
HPS now offer "ICS Shield", a Nextnine capability they acquired in 2017, used in multiple ways. The majority of the Nextnine 6,000 customer base use it to securely "remote into" a site, doing patch updates to OT or IT systems. For over 400 industrial customers, HPS has also put in place CyberVantage managed security service contracts. They still support, and share upgrades with, existing customers who already used Nextnine for other OT systems.
CyberVantage provides 24/7 services from centers in Houston, Bucharest and Singapore, with innovation / R&D centers in Phoenix, Atlanta, Amsterdam, Dubai, Bangalore and Singapore. They offer a broad portfolio including SLA-level services:
* Secure remote access and support
* Patches and anti-virus automation
* Security & performance monitoring
* Security device management
* Threat detection & vulnerability
