Raj Bhadra Singh is a Project Engineering Manager with Bechtel India. He has more than 30 yr of experience in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), front-end engineering design (FEED) and basic engineering for petroleum refining, petrochemicals, gasification, methanol and polysilicon projects. Prior to joining Bechtel India, he worked with Fluor Gurgaon and Engineers India Ltd. He earned a BS degree in chemical engineering from the National Institute of Technology in Surathkal, India, and an MS degree in process engineering design from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, India.
Retrofitting CO2 capture in a petroleum refinery
This article examines the application of solvent absorption-based post combustion capture for refinery/site-specific factors and quantifies the impact this will have on CCS CAPEX/OPEX. This analysis helps to determine the optimum approach for any individual refinery site.
Review steam system designs to accelerate chemical industry decarbonization
Industrial steam systems range from simple systems comprising a low-pressure single steam user to a complex system with multiple pressure levels, multiple generators and multiple users integrated with an onsite cogeneration facility. This article will present the typical CO2 emissions estimates for chemical and petrochemical facilities and describe options available to reduce these emissions through additional heat integration, fuel switching, and the use of heat pumps and electric boilers.
Key considerations for the optimum design of a hot oil system
In the hydrocarbon processing industry, where direct heating is not possible, a heat transfer medium is used. Steam has traditionally been the preferred heating medium.
