UBE-MARUZEN POLYETHYLENE Co., Ltd. (UMP) received ISCC PLUS certification in December 2023 for its ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer produced at its Chiba Plant. Since then, the company has marketed ISCC PLUS-certified products made from sustainable raw materials using the mass balance method*. UMP is now pleased to announce the official launch of these certified products.
ISCC PLUS is an international certification system that helps ensure and promote a sustainable supply chain, demonstrating a commitment to environmental responsibility and a more sustainable future.
The products being launched are certified under the latest ISCC PLUS requirements. They are made using biomass and circular materials through the mass balance method and help reduce environmental impact. By expanding its portfolio of sustainable products, UMP aims to offer customers more environmentally conscious choices as part of its contribution to addressing global environmental challenges.
* Mass balance method: This method is adopted under the ISCC PLUS system. When mixing biomass or circular raw materials with conventional ones, a portion of the resulting product can be considered “made from 100% biomass or circular raw materials,” based on the proportion of the inputs.
