Pertamina says fire at central Java refinery complex extinguished, output not affected
Indonesia's state energy firm Pertamina said a fire that broke out at its Cilacap refinery complex on Thursday has been extinguished and the refinery's operation is not affected.
A flash occurred in one of the tanks from the remaining sludge during a routine maintenance at Cilacap refinery, the company's spokesperson Sunaryo Adi said.
"The Cilacap refinery continues to operate normally and fuel production for the public is not disrupted. We ensure that all safety procedures have been carried out properly," Adi said in a statement on late Thursday, adding there were no casualties.
The refinery, located in Central Java province, has a processing capacity of 348,000 bpd, one of Pertamina's biggest refining facilities. In 2021, fire broke out twice in the Cilacap refinery.
