Sinopec's Zhenhai oil refinery expands capacity to 40 MMtpy
Sinopec's Zhenhai refinery has completed its expansion of oil refining capacity to 40 metric MMtpy, or about 800,000 bpd.
Zhenhai's crude oil processing capacity stood at 23 MMtpy before the expansion, its website says.
With total investment of 41.6 B yuan ($5.70 B), Zhenhai Refining and Chemical has added 18 units including atmospheric distillation, catalytic cracking and polypropylene, the company said on Thursday.
It will supply close to 8 MMtpy of petrochemical products for the production of automobiles, household electrical appliances and textiles.
The expanded capacity is expected to start up in late December or early January, said two sources close to the matter, with some petrochemical units to start up in the first week of January.
