Praxair adds new Utah liquefier to serve refiners

Praxair announced on Monday that it will upgrade its air separation liquefaction capabilities in Salt Lake City, Utah, to meet demand in the region.

A new liquefier will be added to Praxair’s plant, which will nearly double the production of both liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen. The project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2017.

This additional liquid capacity will serve the growing requirement of customers across a variety of end-markets, including food, aerospace and refining.

“Demand for liquid products in the area, including Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and Nevada continues to grow,” said Armando Botello, west region vice president of Praxair’s US industrial gases business.

“Our investment will further position Praxair to efficiently supply the growing demand from existing and new customers throughout the region," he added.

Investment terms were not disclosed.
