Lakewood, Colorado-based Industrial Cooling Solutions (ICS) has been awarded a contract to build a multi-million dollar 28-cell cooling tower at the RAPID steam cracker complex project in Johor, Malaysia.
Industrial Cooling Solutions (ICS) was awarded the contract by Japan-based Toyo Engineering Corp. (TEC) and its consortium partner, Thailand-based TTCL Public Co. (TTCL).
The cracker complex is a part of the massive $16-billion RAPID petrochemical complex being built by the Malaysian state-owned energy company Petronas.
The fact that TEC and TTCL selected us for this landmark project, with the contract ratified by Petronas, is a testament to our record of global engineering excellence in complex cooling tower design and supply projects," said Tim Bozic, president of ICS. "We at ICS are honored to have been recognized in this manner.
ICS has successfully completed cooling tower projects for TTCL and TEC in multiple countries, and this multi-million dollar award represents the companys largest single-site cooling tower to date.
The concrete, back-to-back counterflow cooling tower will play a critical role in the development of the state-of-the-art RAPID refinery by reducing power use while maintaining optimum plant efficiency for maximum production output.
The RAPID integrated refinery and petrochemical complex is currently scheduled to begin operating in 2019 and will add capacity to allow Petronas to better meet strong demand for refined products.
