Striking workers at Marathon Petroleums Galveston Bay refinery in Texas have turned down the companys recent contract offer.
Members of the United Steel Workers (USW) union Local 13-1, in a majority effort, vetoed an offer developed by a federal mediator.
Marathon Petroleums 451-Mbpd refinery has been operating continuously since the strike began on February 1.
According to the USW, local issues that would eliminate job security and roll back safety policies are at the heart of the disagreement between both parties.
In mid-March, an agreement on national issues, including pay and benefits, was reached between the USW and US refining companies.
USW workers remain on strike at the BP and Husky Energys 135-Mbpd Toledo, Ohio refinery.
